The Port Fairy Folk festival

 —  —

Southcombe Park, Port Fairy. Victoria

The 2020 Festival will exemplify the great folk/roots traditions of many cultures, regions, communities and countries – from Ireland to Port Fairy, Johannesburg to New Orleans, Prince Edward Island to Northcote, Celtic to Bluegrass, Indigenous to Latin and glorious folk fusions. 2020 will once again be a splendid mix of brilliant music, great conversations, workshops, collaborations and surprises.

For tens of thousands of years the Pyipgil Gunditj clan has gathered in ceremony on this country. For the past 43 years the Port Fairy Folk Festival has been celebrated each year in the land of the Pyipgil Gundji clans, in Peek Whurrong country.

The Port Fairy Folk Festival pays their respects to elders past, present and emerging and acknowledges that the land we gather on each year for the Festival is the traditional lands of the Peek Whurrong people.

Goanna Arts acknowledges that we live and work on Aboriginal country. We honour and respect the Aboriginal ancestors who lived and loved in this country for tens of thousands of years. Every effort is made to be mindful and respectful of Aboriginal historical and contemporary realities, where we are based and where we travel.
