Peterborough Seaside Festival

Peterborough Foreshore Reserve, Irvine St, Peterborough, Victoria

The Peterborough Seaside Festival is a one day community event in January. The event is staged at the foreshore reserve in the coastal town of Peterborough in South-West Victoria and features live music, markets and local produce, amusements and rides, canoe races on the river, a children's beach triathlon,reptile show and animal nursery etc. The festivities commence at 3pm and conclude with a spectacular fireworks display at 10pm - overlooking the majestic Newfield Bay.

'Gurrong' with the Boite Millennium Chorus

Gurrong Archie Roach and Shane Howard are two of the artists fronting the 350 voice Boite Millennium Chorus in their August concert.

Designed and directed by choir leaders, Jane Thompson and James Rigby, the concert features songs from multicultural, anglo and indigenous Australian traditions. The 17th concert in an annual series, this one is celebrating the 35th birthday of iconic multicultural music presenter, The Boite.

Artists as diverse as Senegalese singer and dancer, Lamine Sonko and violinist Ernie Gruner support a huge choir drawn from across Victoria. Together they will bring to life songs of immigration, resistance and celebration of the beauty of the land we all share.

‘Interpreting History’- Gathered for one very special event to discuss their interpretations of history are artists, writers and historians of international renown. Panellists include Stella Prize winning author Dr Clare Wright, “QI elf” and researcher Molly Oldfield, musicians Shane Howard and Ash Davies and Yandruwandha man Aaron Paterson who has a unique connection to the Burke and Wills story. The session will be chaired by broadcaster and author Derek Guille.
